Rich Whitney presents: Making America Care Again: Why Americans Should Oppose War.
War is “out of sight, out of mind” to most Americans most of the time. Yet, day after day, the U.S. government is murdering people abroad while depriving our communities of badly needed resources at home. This presentation by peace activist Rich Whitney cuts through the disinformation about U.S. foreign policy that trivializes war. It will remind viewers of the horrific consequences of war abroad and at home, the illegality of war, the real economic drivers of war– and the crucial importance of engaging in a renewed struggle against war and the system that perpetuates it.
Rich Whitney is an attorney from Carbondale, Illinois, now working as an appellate public defender. He is a founding member of the Illinois Green Party and served as the Party’s first candidate for Governor of Illinois in 2006 winning over 360,000 votes. His current activist roles include serving as co-chair of the Illinois Green Party and as an active participant in the Green Party Peace Action Committee, the Chicago Committee Against War and Racism and he is also active in several other progressive organizations.
All Open University of the Left programs are free and open to all.
